COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for Guadeloupe, Saint Martin, and Saint Barthélemy as of August 11, 2022.

Guadeloupe

  • In S31, SARS-CoV-2 circulation was declining across the archipelago.

  • The incidence rate decreased by 36% alongside a 32% decline in testing activity. The positivity rate remained stable. A decrease in the incidence rate was observed across all age groups. The effective R value over the seven-day rolling period from July 31 to August 6, 2022, of 0.63 (95% CI [0.60–0.66]) was significantly below 1, confirming the decline in SARS-CoV-2 circulation in Guadeloupe.

  • Furthermore, in week 31, the L452 mutation (L452R or L452Q; C1 screening result), which is present in several Omicron sublineages (BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.11), was detected in 21 samples, or 84%, compared to 83% in week 30.

  • In hospitals, emergency room visits and new hospital admissions remained stable. However, new admissions to critical care units increased.

  • New hospital deaths occurring in Guadeloupe and recorded in SI-VIC remained stable in Week 31 (data currently being consolidated).

Saint Martin

  • In Saint Martin, new SARS-CoV-2 infections decreased in Week 31 amid reduced testing activity. However, the positivity rate of 8.3% remained stable compared to the previous week.

  • Hospital activity was low and stable in Week 31.

Saint Barthélemy

  • New SARS-CoV-2 infections were relatively stable in Week 31. Only eight fewer cases than last week were recorded. The positivity rate increased by 2.3 percentage points compared to Week 30.

  • The situation remained calm at the hospital. As of August 10, no visits to the emergency room for suspected COVID-19 and no new hospital admissions were recorded in Week 31.
