Key Points
Since late January (Week 04), 1,057 cases of chikungunya have been laboratory-confirmed in French Guiana, including 44 in Week 27 (unconsolidated data). The virus continues to circulate actively in the territory:
- Western Coast: The number of emergency department visits for chikungunya is high at CHOG, indicating that the epidemic is continuing in this area.
- Savanes: Emergency room visits for suspected chikungunya continue to be recorded at CHK. The epidemic is ongoing in this sector.
- Cayenne Island: Confirmed cases continue to be detected, and 7 outbreaks are active. The sector remains in the outbreak phase.
- Maroni: Cases continue to be confirmed; no visits for chikungunya were recorded at the CDPSs in S27. The sector is in the sporadic transmission phase.
- Interior, Eastern Interior, and Oyapock: No confirmed cases have been reported in these sectors, which are in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
