Summary

  • In week 35 (August 28–September 3, 2017), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased by 15% among children under 15 and remained stable among adults.

  • Among children, visits for seasonal conditions increased for asthma (among 2- to 14-year-olds only: +33%), allergies (+22%), and infectious conjunctivitis (+27%). The share of activity for these three indicators remains within the usual range. An increase was also noted for burns (small sample size: +12 cases), with a higher share of activity than in the previous two years. Among adults, visits for general malaise have increased for the second consecutive week among those aged 15–74 (+12%), as have visits for allergies (+8%). There has also been a 29.5% increase in visits for heat-related conditions among adults over 15, within the levels typically observed during this period.

  • Among the conditions most frequently seen in pediatric consultations, there was an increase in visits for ENT conditions (+24%) and dental conditions (+31.5%), as well as for acute abdominal pain (+19.4%). Among adults, the most common conditions remained generally stable, with the exception of a slight increase in visits for anxiety among those aged 75 and older (+8.5%) and for gastroenteritis, ENT conditions, and low back pain/sciatica among those aged 15–74 (+6% to +7%).
