In Week 38 (September 20–26, 2021), the third week after the start of the school year, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose sharply among children (+15%, or +3,445 visits) and remained stable among adults.
After seven weeks of decline and one week of stabilization, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups, as well as their share of total activity, are once again on the decline (1,318 procedures vs. 1,419 in Week 37, a decrease of 7%). The share of activity was 1.7% (vs. 2.0% in Week 37). This decline affects all age groups. At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are up in Brittany (+86%, or +51 procedures), Pays de la Loire (+27%, or +20 procedures), and Centre-Val de Loire (+16%, or +3 procedures), and stable or declining in other regions. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 247,734 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other conditions, there has been an increase across all age groups in ENT and respiratory conditions (+28% among children and +24% among adults), including bronchitis (+40% among children and +42% among adults), asthma among 2- to 14-year-olds (+18%), and bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (+44%). Among children under 2 years of age, there was an increase in procedures for diarrhea (+25%) and conjunctivitis (+44%). Finally, there was an increase in procedures for vomiting (+16%) among 2- to 14-year-olds.
