SOS Médecins National Newsletter, September 23, 2024
Key Points
In week 38 (September 16–22, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics continued to rise among children aged 2–14 (+8%, or 1,607 visits) and stabilized among children under 2. Activity also increased among adults aged 15–74 (+6%, or 2,865 visits) and remained stable among those aged 75 and older.
Once again this week, the overall increase in activity is driven by respiratory conditions.
Notably, there was an increase across all age groups in procedures for bronchitis (+33%) and upper respiratory tract conditions (+16%), as well as among adults and children aged 2–14 for influenza/flu-like illness (41% and 45%, respectively) and for suspected COVID-19 (52% and 42%, respectively).
There was also a moderate increase in procedures for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (+13%) and for pneumonia among those aged 75 and older (+20%).
The levels observed for these indicators remain similar to those of previous years.
Procedures for asthma attacks continue to rise among adults (+39%, or +301 procedures) and have stabilized among children. The observed levels remain higher than in the previous three years.
Among other indicators, there was also an increase in procedures for conjunctivitis among children (+17%, or +61 procedures).
