SOS Médecins National Newsletter, September 22–28, 2014

Trends in Overall Activity: Due to a complete interruption in data transmission on September 15 and 16, and a partial interruption on September 17, it is difficult to interpret trends in the overall activity of SOS Médecins associations over the past two weeks. However, a comparison with figures from 2012 and 2013 shows a very similar trend for this time of year (49,190 weekly visits).

Trends in Major ConditionsFor all age groups, the most frequently seen conditions in consultations are ENT conditions, bronchitis, and gastroenteritis, as well as sciatic pain in adults.

Trends in seasonal indicators Consultations for gastroenteritis are rising sharply among children under 15 and adults under 75. This increase is evident in all regions, with numbers—both nationally and regionally—exceeding those observed during 2012 and 2013 at this time of year (2,952 weekly visits). After two weeks of sharp increases, consultations for asthma are declining among children under 15, but are still rising among adults under 75, at levels close to those observed during the fall peak of 2012 and 2013. Visits for bronchitis are on the rise among children and adults under 75, while remaining within the expected range for this time of year (2,030 weekly visits).Other seasonal indicators (pneumonia, bronchiolitis, isolated fever, influenza/flu-like illness) are showing a moderate increase, in line with expected levels.
