Key Points
In Week 40 (September 30–October 6, 2024), activity among SOS Médecins associations rose slightly among those aged 75 and older (+5%, or +297 procedures) and remained stable in other age groups.
Consistent with the previous week, with the exception of upper respiratory tract conditions among those aged 75 and older (+9%, or +34 visits), the main respiratory indicators remained stable (influenza) or declined: asthma attacks (-9% across all ages), pertussis (-8% across all ages), and COVID-19 (-21% across all ages). Other increases include procedures for bronchiolitis (+11%, or +22 procedures), which are rising again after a week of stability, cases of acute bronchitis in children under 2 and adults (+22% and +8%, or +41 and +299 cases), as well as cases of cough (+20%, or +150 cases) and pneumonia, which are at a higher level than in previous years (+13%, or +40 cases).
Other notable indicators include:
among children and adults, the continued rise in procedures for conjunctivitis (respectively +11%, or +55 procedures, and +6%, or +25 procedures, among those aged 15–74) as well as the rise in gastroenteritis (respectively +7%, or +94 cases among 2- to 14-year-olds, and +12%, or +12 cases among those aged 75 and older);
among children, an increase in cases of isolated fever (+14%, or +63 cases), viral syndrome (+12%, or +44 cases among 2- to 14-year-olds), and trauma (+8%, or +43 cases among 2- to 14-year-olds);
among those aged 75 and older, an increase in cases for urinary tract infections (+37%, or +64 cases), deaths (+16%, or +51 cases), and deterioration in general health (+10%, or +24 cases).
