Key Points

A nationwide strike involving all associations in the SOS Médecins/SpFrance network took place from 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 27, 2021, to 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Operations resumed on September 28, 2021, but some associations are continuing to suspend daytime home visits, while maintaining outpatient consultations and on-call services. Consequently, the indicators should be interpreted with great caution.

In week 39 (September 27–October 3, 2021), total activity among SOS Médecins associations declined across all age groups (-16%, or -13,355 procedures).

This decline applies to all indicators, including medical procedures for suspected COVID-19. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 248,820 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Among seasonal indicators, however, there has been an increase in the number of procedures for bronchiolitis (+13%, or +27 procedures) and vomiting (+14%, or +11 procedures) among children under 2 years of age, as well as for conjunctivitis (+15%, or +46 procedures) among children under 15 years of age. We also note a higher level of procedures for bronchiolitis compared to the previous three years. ENT and respiratory indicators (asthma attacks, bronchitis, pneumonia) are stable across all age groups at levels higher than in previous years (particularly among adults).
