SOS Médecins National Newsletter, October 4, 2011

After three consecutive weeks of increases, overall activity at SOS Médecins has stabilized for both adults and children (+2.5% compared to +9% in week 38). We are seeing a stabilization in the volume of diagnoses for ENT conditions among children under 15 (notably nasopharyngitis (-17%), otitis, and laryngitis) and respiratory conditions (bronchitis) compared to previous weeks. Diagnoses for asthma are also stable for the second consecutive week across all age groups.Flu diagnoses account for less than 1% of SOS Médecins’ activity, in line with trends observed during the same period last year. Indicators for gastroenteritis and deaths are stable over the period.

Regionally, the increase in calls for respiratory conditions among children under 2 years of age is also stabilizing, or even decreasing slightly.
