Key Points
In week 42 (October 17–23, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics continued to rise among children under 2 years of age (+9%, or +665 visits) and remained stable in other age groups.
The increase in cases for all seasonal respiratory indicators continues among children: influenza/flu-like illness (+17%, or +81 cases), acute bronchitis (+7%, or +157 cases), and asthma (+13%, or +91 cases). Consultations for pneumonia are rising across all age groups (+13%, or +102 consultations). Consultations for suspected COVID-19 are up slightly (+5%, or +29 consultations) among children and down among adults (-9%, or -325 consultations).
Among children, there was also an increase in cases for isolated fever (+27%, or +191 cases) and viral syndrome (+5%, or +37 cases). More specifically, among children under 2 years of age, most of the main diagnoses seen by SOS Médecins are on the rise, particularly cases of bronchiolitis, which continue to increase (+39%, or +222 cases), with levels higher than in previous years.
Among adults, there was an increase in cases of urinary tract infections (+8%, or +150 cases), and among those aged 75 and older, cases of heart conditions rose by 37% (44 cases).
Among other indicators, there was an increase across all age groups in cases of infectious conjunctivitis (+10%, or +129 cases), which continues at levels higher than in previous years, and for general malaise (+15%, or +33 cases).
