Key Points

• In Week 44 (October 31 to November 6, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among adults (+12%, or +6,292 visits) and among children under 2 years of age (+8%, or +717 visits), while continuing to decline among children aged 2–14.

• Among adults, there was an increase in cases for nearly all monitored indicators, particularly for seasonal respiratory indicators: influenza/flu-like illness (+39%, or +483 cases), asthma attacks (+27%, or +170 visits), acute bronchitis (+25%, or +691 visits), upper respiratory tract conditions (+19%, or +2,411 visits), and pneumonia (+19%, or +105 visits). Procedures continued to rise for urinary tract infections (+8%, or +171 procedures) and conjunctivitis (+45%, or +196 procedures, with higher numbers than in previous years). Finally, there was an increase in cases of gastroenteritis among those aged 75 and older (+44%, or +34 cases) and vomiting among those aged 15–74 (+27%, or +67 cases).

• Of note is a 61% increase in falls (+66 cases) among those aged 75 and older (an indicator that enters the ranking of the 10 most common conditions this week).

• Among children under 2 years of age, the increase in cases for seasonal respiratory indicators continues, particularly for bronchiolitis at levels higher than in previous years (+22%, or +226 cases) and for acute bronchitis (+16%, or +84 cases). Among those aged 2–14, there was an increase in cases for influenza/flu-like illness (+17%, or +60 cases) and for vomiting (+31%, or +56 cases).

• Consultations for suspected COVID-19 continue to decline among children aged 2–14 (-26%, or -89 consultations) and remain stable in other age groups.
