Summary
In week 44 (October 30–November 5, 2017), including the November 1 holiday, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased for children under 2 years of age (+6.2%, or +407 visits) and adults (+8%, or +3,522 visits), and decreased by 5.2% for children aged 2–14.
Among seasonal conditions, there was an increase in consultations: - among children under 2 years of age for isolated fever (+12%, or +28 consultations), bronchiolitis (+16%, or +62 consultations), asthma (+11%, or +10 visits) and allergies (+18%, or +20 visits), as well as for gastroenteritis among children under 15 years of age (+10.4%, or +119 visits), - among adults, for bronchitis (+12.4%, or +279 visits) and upper respiratory tract conditions (+12.7%, or +981 visits), as well as for isolated fever (+27.6%, or +91 visits), allergies (+7%, or +41 visits) and infectious conjunctivitis (+30.7%, or +66 visits).
Among the most common conditions, excluding seasonal illnesses, there was an increase in visits among children under 2 years of age for viral syndrome (+15.4%) and vomiting (+21%). Among 2- to 14-year-olds, there was an increase in visits for acute abdominal pain (+22%), trauma (+16%), and dental problems (+12.5%). Among adults, nearly all of the 10 most common conditions are on the rise, particularly consultations for urinary tract infections (+21%), as well as, among those aged 75 and older, for acute abdominal pain (+25%), deterioration in general health (+16.6%), and deaths (+16%, or 42 more deaths).
