SOS Médecins National Newsletter, November 5, 2018

Summary

In Week 44 (October 29–November 4), which included a holiday (Thursday, November 1), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased for children under 2 years of age (+10%, or +608 visits) and adults (+12%, or +5,428 visits), while remaining stable for children aged 2–14.

Just like total activity, most non-specific and seasonal indicators increased among young children and adults. However, this increase is consistent with observations from the previous two years.

In particular, there has been an increase in visits for bronchiolitis (+13%, or +42 visits) and viral syndrome (+35%, or +46 visits) among children under 2 years of age, and for influenza/influenza-like illness (+8%, or +42 visits) among adults.

In addition, visits for gastroenteritis are on the rise among children under 2 years of age (+8%, or +35 visits) and adults over 75 years of age (+21%, or +39 visits); these are accompanied by an increase in visits across all age groups for acute abdominal pain (+10%, or +152 visits).
