SOS Médecins National Newsletter, November 13, 2012

Activity at SOS Médecins clinics has declined slightly over the past week (-14% across all age groups, and up to -30% among children under 5) both nationally and in the regions. There was a slight spike in activity linked to the long weekend of November 1, followed by a return to a level comparable to 2011 and 2012 for the same period. The gastroenteritis indicator remained stable over the period, at a level comparable to previous seasons. Calls to SOS Médecins for asthma are down but remain at a higher level than last year for the same period. Influenza diagnoses are down slightly (-12%, 443 cases) among children under 15 and those over 75. Among children under 2 years of age, calls for respiratory conditions and diagnoses of bronchiolitis are down (by 25% and 16%, respectively); however, both indicators remain at a higher level than in 2011 and 2010. The death rate remains stable, at a level comparable to the previous two years. For the past week, all monitored indicators are down; the most common conditions across all age groups remain gastroenteritis, ENT conditions, and bronchitis.
