In week 45 (November 4–10), the first week back after the All Saints’ Day holiday, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among 2- to 14-year-olds (+7%, or 960 visits) and decreased among children under 2 and adults aged 75 and older (+15% and -7%, or 1,156 and 595 visits, respectively).

Over the past week, there was a notable increase in cases involving:

• abdominal conditions:

  • vomiting in children under 15 years old (+18%, or +65 cases) and in adults aged 15–74 (+22%, or +84 cases),

  • gastroenteritis in children aged 2–14 (+29%, or +349 cases) and in adults aged 15–74 (+19%, or +572 cases), and

• influenza/flu-like illness in children under 15 years of age (+36%, or +36 cases).

Conversely, there was a decrease in procedures for other respiratory conditions, notably bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age (-26%, or -108 procedures), bronchitis across all age groups (-10%, or -446 procedures), and pneumonia in adults (-16%, or -113 procedures). It is worth noting that procedures for asthma are also down across all age groups, particularly among children under 2 years of age (-43%, or -51 procedures).

Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in procedures for viral syndrome (+47%), trauma (+42%), and abdominal pain (+40%) among children aged 2–14; requests for medical certificates (+11%) and headaches/migraines (+24%) among those aged 15–74; and falls (+26%) among those aged 75 and older.
