Trends in Overall ActivityOverall activity at SOS Médecins clinics has increased by 32% for children under 15 (+5,074 visits), by 11% for adults aged 15–74 (+3,233 visits), and by 14% for people aged 75 and older (+843 visits). This increase, observed in all regions, is the result of the long weekend of November 11 (+30% in activity observed on Monday, November 10, compared to the previous Monday, and +49% in activity on Tuesday, November 11, compared to the previous Tuesday). The number of visits is higher than in the two previous years during this period.
Trends in Major Conditions All causes of medical visits among children are on the rise. Among children under 2 years of age, there was a notable increase in visits for bronchiolitis (+65%, +111 visits) and bronchitis (+46%, +87 visits). Among children aged 2–14, the sharpest increases were observed for ENT conditions, bronchitis, and asthma. Among adults aged 75 and older, a 37% increase in visits for general health deterioration was observed (+72 visits), as well as for urinary tract infections (+30%, +47 visits), heart failure, and sciatic pain (+23%).
Trends in Seasonal Indicators The rise in consultations for gastroenteritis continued across all age groups over the past week, though at a more moderate pace (+13%, or +458 visits). With 4,109 weekly visits across all age groups, the numbers remain higher than those in 2012 and 2013. Consultations for bronchitis and asthma have risen sharply among children under 15, by +70% (+498 visits) and +76% (+238 visits), respectively. The increase is more moderate among adults aged 15–74 (15% and 27%, respectively). Over the past week, the number of visits for bronchitis (2,794 visits) and asthma (940 visits) exceeded those of the two previous years. Consultations for pneumonia are also increasing across all age groups, particularly among children under 15 (+89 visits) and adults aged 15–74 (+41%, +54 visits). The numbers are higher than those in 2012 and 2013. Visits for influenza/flu-like illness are up 42% (+176 visits), within the expected range for this period. The same is true for visits for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age. Consultations for fever alone are slightly up among children under 2 years of age (+20%) and among adults aged 15–74 (+15%). With 842 weekly visits, the numbers are comparable to those of previous years.
