Key Points

In Week 18 (May 1–7, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children (+5%, or 1,171 more visits) and remained stable among adults.

Most indicators are on the rise, particularly among children, reflecting the resumption of school activities. Across all age groups, the main indicators showing an increase are trauma and allergies (+17% in both cases, representing 471 and 309 additional cases, respectively), with the rise in allergies being more pronounced among children aged 2–14 (+40%). Procedures for isolated fever and pneumonia are also on the rise across all age groups (up 11% and 13%, respectively), with pneumonia levels exceeding those of previous years and a more pronounced increase among children under 2 years old (+107%, 29 vs. 14 procedures).

By age, the main increases concern:

  • Children under 2 years of age: dental conditions (+37%), asthma attacks (+32%), and viral syndrome (+31%)

  • Among 2- to 14-year-olds: scarlet fever (+24%), abdominal pain (+22%)

  • Among those aged 15–74: chickenpox (+55%, 78 cases vs. 31), malaise (+26%)

  • Among those aged 75 and older: deterioration in general health (+19%)

From a mental health perspective, there was an increase in visits for anxiety among adults (+12%, or 130 more visits) and depressive episodes among those aged 75 and older (+21%, or 7 more visits).
