Key Points
In Week 21 (May 22–28, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined among children under 2 years of age and among those aged 75 and older, and remained stable in other age groups.
The observed increase in activity is mainly driven by cases involving:
Allergies among 2- to 14-year-olds (+42%, or +283 cases) and among adults (+39%, or +552 cases)
Insect bites across all age groups (+23%, or +117 cases)
Isolated fever among 2- to 14-year-olds (+14%, or +53 visits) and among 15- to 74-year-olds (+15%, or +32 visits)
Among children, despite small sample sizes, there was also an increase in cases of anxiety (+32%), and among 2- to 14-year-olds, cases of trauma (+6%), chickenpox (+5%), acute abdominal pain (+6%), and suspected COVID-19 (+9%). Among children under 2 years old, nearly all monitored indicators are down.
Among adults, there was an increase in cases of depression among those aged 15–44 and those aged 65 and older (51% and 23% respectively, or 61 and 7 additional cases), and among those aged 15–64 for general malaise (+25%, or 45 additional cases). Among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in procedures for pneumonia and for cardiac conditions (5% each).
