Summary

In Week 21 (May 18–24, 2020), the second week of the easing of lockdown measures, total SOS Médecins activity across all age groups increased by 27% among children (+1,864 cases) and by 15% among adults (+5,208 cases).

Over the past week, there were 2,209 cases involving suspected COVID-19, a figure stable compared to the previous week (2,203 cases in Week 20). Their share of total activity remained stable at 5%. These cases increased slightly among those aged 65 and older (+8%, or +24 cases). By region, the highest number of tests for suspected COVID-19 were recorded in Île-de-France (17%), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (14%), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (11%), Grand-Est (10%), and PACA (10%).
Since the start of surveillance, 53,009 tests for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Among other conditions, there has been an increase in procedures for:

  • allergies (+68%), trauma (+20%), ENT conditions (+18%), and gastrointestinal conditions (+17%, or +279 cases) across all age groups,

  • insect bites (+179%), dermatological issues (+51%) in children,

  • asthma among 15- to 44-year-olds (+64%, or 57 more cases) and anxiety among those aged 45 and older (+10%, or 398 more cases).
