SOS Médecins National Newsletter, May 24, 2011

Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained generally stable compared to the previous week, although an increase was noted over the weekend of May 21–22 in the Southwest region. The breakdown by age group shows a slight increase in activity among children aged 2 to 14.

The allergy indicator remained stable over the past week and accounted for less than 2% of activity. However, an increase was noted toward the end of the week in the North, Northeast, and West regions. SOS Médecins activity related to asthma among children over two years of age increased slightly over the past week, mainly in the Southwest region.

The "gastroenteritis" indicator remained stable over the past week, accounting for just under 15% of call reasons. This trend was observed across all geographic regions.

The decline in the number of measles cases observed last week continues, among both children and adults. In contrast, cases of chickenpox remained stable over the past week (graph not shown).

There continues to be a slight increase in cases of insect bites, particularly over the weekend. The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations has decreased significantly over the past week, except in the Centre/Île-de-France region, where the number remains stable.
