Key Points
In week 20 (May 16–22, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children under 15 (+13%, or 2,238 visits) and remained stable among adults.
Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups have continued to decline for the past 7 weeks. In total, 660 procedures (vs. 826 procedures in Week 19) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 20% vs. 8% in Week 19). This decline affects all age groups. It is more pronounced among adults: those aged 75 and older (-39%, or -16 cases) and those aged 15–74 (-21%, or -121 cases). Among children, the decline is -9% for those aged 2–14 (-16 cases) and -20% for those under 2 (-5 cases). At the regional level, procedures for suspected COVID-19 are declining in all regions except Corsica, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, where numbers remain low.
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 345,153 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators, the following are observed:
all ages: an increase in cases for seasonal indicators: allergies (+31% among children, +41% among adults) and asthma attacks (+28% across all ages); and related to weather conditions (unusual heat): heatstroke (+139%), insect bites (+46%), and isolated fever (+22%); dehydration and malaise in adults only (up 35% and 12%, respectively), and trauma in children aged 2–14 (+13%);
in children: an increase in cases (less pronounced than in S19) for viral syndrome (+24%), infectious conjunctivitis (+21%), respiratory conditions (ENT conditions: +16% and bronchitis: +11%), and chickenpox in children under 2 years of age (+22%);
among adults: visits for chickenpox, which rose sharply in Week 19, stabilized in Week 20.
