Summary

  • In week 17 of 2017 (April 24–30), the overall activity of SOS Médecins clinics decreased across all age groups (by 9% among children and 5.6% among adults, respectively).

  • Most seasonal conditions remained stable or declined among both children and adults. However, there was an increase in consultations for vomiting among children (+15%). Among adults, there was an increase in consultations for fever alone among those aged 75 and older (+27%). Overall, seasonal illnesses remained at levels equivalent to or lower than those of the previous two years.

  • The main conditions seen in consultations are also mostly stable or declining compared to the previous week. However, among children aged 2–14, there is an increase in consultations for trauma (+16.5%), as well as for viral syndrome (+13%). Consultations for chickenpox in children are down 35%, following six consecutive weeks of increases. The proportion of these consultations relative to total coded activity remains at levels consistent with those observed last year. Among adults over 75 years of age, there is an increase in consultations for urinary tract infections (+13%), as well as an increase in consultations for various cardiovascular and circulatory problems (+16.3%).
