Summary
In Week 19 (May 10–16, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose sharply among children (+21%, or +3,261 visits) and more moderately among adults (+7%, or +4,293 visits).
After a sharp four-week decline in medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups (beginning in Week 14), the downward trend appears to be slowing over the past two weeks: 1,853 procedures were recorded (vs. 1,914 in Week 18), representing a -3% decrease (vs. -5% in Week 18). Cases for suspected COVID-19 continue to rise among 2- to 14-year-olds (+17%, or +47 cases) and are declining in other age groups. Their share of total activity has risen to 2.9% (vs. 2.4% in Week 18) and is increasing in all age groups except those aged 75 and older. At the regional level, SOS Médecins calls for suspected COVID-19 are rising in half of the regions (from +7% to +46%, though with low case numbers). Among the three regions with the sharpest increases are Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+46%, or +22 cases), Hauts-de-France (+27%, or +48 cases), and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (+16%, or +24 cases). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 217,150 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other conditions: asthma is increasing across all age groups (+54% across all ages):
Among children, the majority of indicators are rising sharply, particularly respiratory conditions (bronchitis +74%, ENT +42%) and chickenpox (+203%, or +256 cases)
Among adults, the increases are more moderate: dehydration +32%, ENT +23%, urinary tract infection +19%, anxiety +12%
