SOS Médecins National Newsletter, May 15, 2012
Over the past week, SOS-Médecins activity across all age groups remained stable compared to the previous week both nationally and across the various regions, with the exception of the North and Northeast, where it declined slightly. The asthma attack indicator (diagnoses) remained stable across all age groups and is comparable to the same period last year. However, this indicator has risen slightly among children aged 2 to 14 (+21%), while activity for this indicator among people aged 75 and older decreased over the past week (-26%). Note that this indicator rose slightly in the Western region over the past week. The allergy indicator is also stable across all age groups and by age group, with numbers similar to those recorded during the same period last year. The decline in the gastroenteritis indicator observed over the past several weeks continues (-15% compared to the previous week) for all age groups. This decrease is consistent with the usual seasonal trend for this condition. The measles indicator is stable over the period. The number of deaths certified by the SOS Médecins associations remained constant over the past week, comparable to the figures observed for the same period in previous years. The main conditions observed across all age groups are ENT conditions and gastroenteritis. There has been an increase in diagnoses of isolated fever among children under 15 years of age (+21%). Conversely, diagnoses of chickenpox in this age group are down (-32%) (Data not shown).
