Summary
In Week 19 (May 7–13), which included two holidays (Tuesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 11), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose sharply among children (+13.5%, or +2,493 visits) and among adults (+15%, or +7,087 visits).
In line with overall activity, the majority of visits for seasonal illnesses and nonspecific symptoms increased among both children and adults. Of particular note is the increase in visits for insect bites, allergies, and chickenpox across all age groups (respectively +113%, +20%, and +39% across all ages, or +513, +361, and +255 visits). For these three types of visits, the associated activity within the overall activity of SOS Médecins is higher than in the previous two years. Also noteworthy is the increase in visits for viral meningitis among adults aged 15–74 (16 visits in S19 compared to 3 in S18), burns, as well as hyperthermia and heatstroke among children (up 181% and 250%, respectively) and adults aged 15–74 (up 28% and 767%, respectively).
The most common conditions also increased across all age groups in Week 19. Among children, there was an increase in visits for viral syndrome (+30%, or +129 visits) and trauma (+27%, or +122 visits). Among adults over 15 years of age, there was an increase in visits for trauma (+23%, or +399 visits), urinary tract infections (+24%, or +506 visits), and dental problems (+32%, or +316 visits). Finally, particularly among people aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for pneumonia (+36%), upper respiratory tract conditions (+24%), and cardiac problems (+28%).
Finally, visits for measles were down across all age groups in week 19.
