Overall Activity Trends

SOS Médecins activity remained stable nationwide over the past week. There was a slight decrease in activity among children under 5 years of age (-8%, -749 consultations). Slight increases were observed in some regions toward the end of the week, likely due to the long weekend of May 8. Patient numbers are close to those of 2013 and slightly higher than those of 2012.

Trends in Seasonal Indicators

Allergy diagnoses are on the rise among children under 2 years of age (+25%, +19 diagnoses) and among adults under 75 years of age (+13%, +53 diagnoses). Activity related to this condition accounts for 1 to 3% of the associations’ overall activity (3% in the Southwest and Southeast regions). The number of cases is lower than in 2013 but higher than in 2012.

The asthma attack indicator is rising among children under 2 years of age and adults over 75 years of age, though with low numbers (9 and 7 additional diagnoses, respectively). The number of cases is lower than in 2013 and higher than in 2012. The trend over time is very similar to that of the allergy indicator. This indicator accounts for less than 1% of total activity.

Diagnoses of gastroenteritis are stable or declining across all age groups. Depending on the region, this indicator accounts for 3 to 6% of total activity.

The main conditions reported are ENT infections (tonsillitis, nasopharyngitis, and otitis) and gastroenteritis. The number of diagnoses for these conditions is stable or declining, both among children under 15 and among adults.
