SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 8, 2011

The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has decreased slightly by nearly 5% compared to last week. This decline is observed among children and adults aged 15 to 74. It affects all geographic regions, except for the Centre/Île-de-France region, where activity remains stable.

Across all age groups, calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses have decreased by 12% and 33%, respectively. This decrease is observed in all regions and affects all age groups (notably -30% among children under 5 years old, -47% among children aged 5 to 14, and -30% among adults aged 15 to 74 for diagnoses).

Calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" among children under 2 years of age have decreased slightly over the past week in all regions. These calls account for more than one-third of SOS Médecins’ activity for this age group.

The "gastroenteritis" indicator also continued to decline over the past week.

The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations is similar to last week’s.

Note a very sharp increase in measles diagnoses, mainly observed among unvaccinated adults. The graphs are presented on page 3. This increase is also observed in data from the Oscour® surveillance network.
