Summary
In Week 12 (March 22–28, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children (+5%, or +1,232) and remained stable among adults (+0.9%).
In Week 12, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups rose for the third consecutive week, with 4,032 procedures recorded (vs. 3,187 in Week 11; a 27% increase); the share of total activity across all age groups also rose to 5.7% (versus 4.6% in Week 11). This increase is observed across all age groups: 2–14 years (+33%, or +178 procedures), 15–74 years (+27%, or +643 procedures), under 2 years (+19%, or +8 procedures), and 75 years and older (+6%, or +10 procedures). Suspected COVID-19 is the second most common diagnosis among those aged 15–74 and the fourth most common among those aged 2–14. At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in all regions except Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The sharpest increases were observed in Martinique (+123%, or +32 procedures), Corsica (+100%, or +15 procedures), Centre-Val de Loire (+57%, or +39 procedures), Pays de la Loire (+49%, or +69 procedures), Brittany (+46%, or +57 procedures), Île-de-France (+39%, or +241 procedures), Normandy (+36%, or +56 procedures), and Occitanie (+35%, or +49 procedures). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 198,072 procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among seasonal conditions, notable increases include ENT conditions across all age groups (+6%, or +1,022 procedures), conjunctivitis in children under 2 years old (+29%, or +44 procedures), chickenpox and asthma (+20%, or +60 and +75 procedures, respectively) and allergies (+17%, or +66 procedures) among 2- to 14-year-olds, and bronchitis among adults (+9%, or +96 procedures). Among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in procedures for general health deterioration (+17%, or 62 procedures) and for trauma (+11%, or 44 procedures).
