SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 22, 2011

The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics remains stable compared to last week. However, trends vary by age group: activity among children aged 5–14 increased by 10.3%, while activity among adults over 75 decreased by 5.6%.

Across all age groups, calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses have decreased by 3% and 30%, respectively. This decrease is observed in all regions and affects all age groups. Influenza diagnoses account for less than 5% of SOS Médecins’ activity. Calls for “bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants” among children under 2 years of age decreased by 6.8% over the past week. However, an increase in these conditions has been noted since mid-March in the North, Southeast, and Southwest regions.

The "gastroenteritis" indicator has decreased by 5.3% over the past week. This decrease applies to all age groups.

The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins has risen slightly over the past week, but remains stable among people aged 75 and older.

The increase in measles diagnoses continues, among both adults and children.
