SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 20, 2017
Summary
In week 11 of 2017, the overall activity of SOS Médecins clinics continued to rise among children aged 2–14 (+12%). It remained stable among children under 2 and adults.
Among seasonal conditions, there was an increase in activity for asthma and allergies among children (+20% and +24%, respectively) as well as among adults aged 15–74 (+23% and +17%, respectively). Activity for these two diagnoses remained stable among people over 75. The share of activity for these two indicators is comparable to that of 2014–2015 during this period. Furthermore, there has been a continued increase in consultations for isolated fever among children aged 2–14, as well as for upper respiratory tract conditions and bronchitis among children aged 2–14 and adults aged 15–74. The activity shares for these indicators remain comparable to previous years, except for upper respiratory tract conditions, which are slightly higher. Of note is the return to seasonal levels of the activity share for bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age following a slight increase the previous week.
Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in pediatric visits for infectious conjunctivitis and gastrointestinal symptoms (gastroenteritis in children under 2 years of age and acute abdominal pain in children aged 2–14 years).
