For the week of March 14–19, 2012, SOS Médecin’s activity remained stable nationwide, at a level similar to that of the same period last year. Regionally, there was a slight decrease in activity in the North and Northeast. The main conditions observed over the past week were gastroenteritis and influenza (accounting for 7% and 3% of the associations’ activity, respectively), followed by ENT conditions (nasopharyngitis, tonsillitis, and otitis).The influenza indicator is down nationwide for all age groups (-31%), particularly among those over 75 (-49%); this trend is comparable to that observed in the emergency departments of the OSCOUR® network. However, in the Western region, influenza-related activity remains stable.Gastroenteritis activity is stable across all age groups, at a level comparable to the same period last year; this trend is similar to that observed in the emergency departments of the OSCOUR® network.The bronchiolitis indicator is stable over the period (2% of cases among children under 2 years of age), with numbers comparable to previous seasons (2009–2010 and 2010–2011). The measles indicator is stable over the period.The death rate remains slightly higher than last year for the same period.
