SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 13, 2012
For the week of March 6–12, 2012, SOS Médecins’ activity remained stable both nationally and regionally, at a higher level than during the same period last year. A slight decrease in activity (-11%) was observed among those aged 75 and older at the national level. However, a slight increase in activity was noted in the Western region. The main conditions reported for the past week were gastroenteritis and influenza (accounting for 8% and 5% of the associations’ activity, respectively). The influenza indicator declined over the period for all age groups (-29%); this decline was also observed in the emergency departments of the OSCOUR® network. It should be noted, however, that in the Western region, influenza-related activity remains stable. There has been a decrease in bronchitis diagnoses across all age groups (-21%; graph not shown). The gastroenteritis indicator is stable across all age groups and comparable to previous seasons (2009–2010 and 2010–2011).The bronchiolitis indicator has decreased slightly (-13%) to a level comparable to the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. The measles indicator has remained stable over the period. The mortality indicator has decreased slightly, though it remains at a level slightly higher than last year for the same period.
