Key Points
In Week 10 (March 4–10, 2024), activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable among children (-1%, or -271 visits) and among adults (+1%, or +683 visits).
Seasonal respiratory indicators are down across all age groups, particularly cases of influenza/flu-like illness for the fifth consecutive week (-17% across all ages, or 930 fewer cases). Treatments for pneumonia, also down for the second consecutive week (-9%, or -83 treatments), remained at levels higher than those observed in previous years.
Among other indicators, among children and to a lesser extent those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in cases involving digestive symptoms: vomiting (up 15% and 40%, respectively, or 84 and 15 cases), gastroenteritis (+7% and +27%, or +382 and +35 procedures), and acute abdominal pain (+10% among children, or +40 procedures), as well as procedures for trauma (+46% and +10%, or +178 and +31 procedures). Among children only, there was also an increase in procedures for chickenpox (+9%, or +61 procedures), allergies (+11%, or +28 procedures), and asthma attacks (+9%, or +33 procedures—also up among those aged 15–74 in the same proportions).
Among adults, there was an increase in procedures for feeling unwell (+29%, or +60 procedures), and among those aged 75 and older, for deterioration in general health (+18%, or +42 procedures) and falls (+11%, or +16 procedures).
Regarding mental health indicators, there was an increase in procedures for depressive states among those aged 15–44 (+18%, or +27 procedures) and for anxiety among those aged 15 and older (+10%, or +107 procedures).
