SOS Médecins National Newsletter, March 1, 2011
The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has decreased by nearly 7% compared to last week. This decline is primarily observed among children aged 5–14 (-20.3%). This trend is evident across all geographic regions and is consistent with the decrease in patient volume observed in the emergency departments of the Oscour® network.
Across all age groups, calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses have decreased by 15% and 46%, respectively. This decrease is observed in all regions and affects all age groups (notably -60% among children under 5 years old, -55% among children aged 5 to 14, and -42% among adults aged 15 to 74 for diagnoses).
Calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" among children under 2 years of age have decreased slightly over the past week in all regions. These calls account for more than one-third of SOS Médecins’ activity for this age group.
The "gastroenteritis" indicator also continued to decline slightly over the past week.
The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations has decreased over the past week.
