Summary

In week 22 (May 31–June 6, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained stable among those aged 2–14 and 15–74, while declining among those under 2 years old (-8%, or 448 fewer visits) and those aged 75 and older (-6%, or 417 fewer visits).

After stabilizing in Week 20, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued to decline for the second consecutive week, with 1,340 procedures in Week 22 (vs. 1,759 in Week 21; -24%, or -419 procedures). This decline affects all age groups and is proportionally more pronounced among those under 2 years of age (-65%, or -15 cases) and those aged 15–74 (-26%, or -346 cases). At the regional level, SOS Médecins calls for suspected COVID-19 cases are stable or declining in all regions. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 222,135 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Seasonal indicators are on the rise, with marked increases in heatstroke (+394%, 84 cases vs. 17 in S21), insect bites (+40%, or +213 cases), and allergies (+42%, or +742 cases) across all age groups. Among children aged 2–14, increases were also noted for general malaise (+88%, or +15 cases), chickenpox (+18%, or +54 cases), isolated fever (+12%, or +44 cases), infectious conjunctivitis (+21%, or +49 visits), and gastroenteritis (+9%, or +107 visits), while among adults aged 15–74, visits for dehydration (+118%, or +13 visits) and asthma (+17%, or +46 visits) were on the rise.
