SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 6, 2017
Summary
In week 22 of 2017 (May 29–June 4), the overall activity of SOS Médecins clinics decreased across all age groups, particularly among children under 2 years of age (-11%) and people aged 75 and older (-10%). It remains at levels comparable to previous years.
Unlike in Week 21, visits for seasonal and summer-related conditions were generally stable or declining across all age groups. However, there has been an increase in visits for isolated fever among children (+11%) and for conditions related to insect bites among children under 2 and adults (respectively: +46%, corresponding to 23 cases, and +6%, corresponding to 26 cases). For these two types of visits, as well as for heat-related conditions and conjunctivitis to a lesser extent, the observed levels are slightly higher than in the previous two years.
Among the other most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for viral syndrome across all age groups (+11%) and for abdominal pain in children (+13%).
