Key Points
In Week 22 (May 29–June 4, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children (+11%, or 2,720 visits) and remained stable among adults.
In line with weather conditions, most seasonal indicators were on the rise for both adults and children in the following proportions: insect bites (+46% across all ages, or +286 cases), allergies (+61%, or +1,868 cases), asthma (+52%, or 554 cases), and conjunctivitis (+19%, or +338 cases). The levels observed for asthma exceeded those of previous years in S22, while those for conjunctivitis remained at a high level.
There was also an increase in cases of heatstroke and isolated fever across all age groups except those aged 75 and older (respectively +161% and +14%, or +74 and +143 cases) and dehydration (+68%, or +25 cases).
Among children, there was also an increase in visits for ENT conditions (+12%, or 1,254 visits) and, to a lesser extent, visits for general malaise among 2- to 14-year-olds (+53%, or 8 visits) and among children under 2 years of age: vomiting (+23%, or 11 visits), gastroenteritis (+11%, or +33 visits), and viral syndrome (+25%, or +29 visits).
Among adults, mental health indicators were on the rise: anxiety among 15- to 44-year-olds (+10%, or +69 cases) and depressive states among those aged 45 and older (+14%, or +14 cases), as well as among those aged 75 and older, cases involving abdominal pain (+25%, or +38 cases) and death certificates (+11%, or +38 cases), which ranked first among the most frequent cases in this age group.
