Summary
During Week 22 (May 27–June 2, 2019), marked by a holiday on Thursday and high temperatures in the final days, total SOS Médecins activity increased across all age groups (+10%, or +1,728 cases). This increase was particularly pronounced among children under 2 years old (+15%) and those aged 75 and older (22%), for whom all major conditions saw an uptick.
Over the past week, among seasonal conditions, there was an increase in cases for: - Insect bites across all age groups (+75%, or +343 cases); - Dehydration in adults (+50%, or +25 cases) and children under 15 (5 cases compared to 2 the previous week); - Isolated fever in children under 15 and adults aged 15–74 (+14%, or +98 cases, and +31%, or +80 cases, respectively); - Allergies in all age groups (+36%, or +585 cases) and asthma attacks in adults only (+29%, or +118 cases); - Chickenpox in children (+45%, or +273 cases); - Meningitis in those aged 15–74 (16 cases compared to 8 last week).
Among the 10 most common conditions, there was an increase in cases for: - Upper respiratory tract infections across all age groups (+11%, or +1,754 cases); - Infectious conjunctivitis in children under 15 (+31%, or +144 cases); - Urinary tract infections in adults (+23%, or +414 procedures).
