SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 28, 2011

Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased by 11.5% compared to the previous week. Trends varied by age group, with an increase in activity among children aged 2 to 14 and a decrease among those aged 15 to 74. These trends were observed across all geographic regions.

The number of cases involving heat-related conditions (heatstroke, dehydration, fainting) has increased over the past few days (June 25–27), consistent with the high temperatures recorded during this period. A similar trend is observed in data from the OSCOUR® network. The increase in heatstroke cases particularly affects those aged 15–74, while dehydration is more frequently seen in people over 75.

SOS Médecins activity related to fevers (reasons for calls and diagnoses) has remained stable over the past week. The proportion of activity related to allergies has shown a slight increase in recent days, as has the number of cases involving insect bites.

There has been no change in indicators for gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain over the past week.

Deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations have increased over the past week.
