SOS Médecins National Newsletter, June 21, 2011
Of note is the participation of SOS Médecins chapters (Midi-Pyrénées, Île-de-France) in two CBRN exercises held last week.
Over the past week, SOS Médecins associations saw an increase in total activity volume on Monday, September 13 (Pentecost Monday). For the rest of the week, activity was comparable to that observed in previous weeks. These trends apply to all age groups and all geographic areas.
SOS Médecins activity related to fevers (reasons for calls and diagnoses) increased over the past week, particularly over the weekend of June 11–13. This trend is not observed among people aged 75 and older. The "malaise" indicator remained stable over the past week for all age groups. The same is true for allergies.
A low number of cases related to heat-related conditions (heatstroke, dehydration) was noted over the past week, compared to previous weeks. After a slight increase the previous week, the "gastroenteritis" indicator has stabilized. A temporary spike in activity for food poisoning was noted on Sunday, June 19 (graphs not shown).
The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations remained generally stable over the past week, with a downward trend in the Centre/Ile-de-France, West, and Northeast regions.
