Key Points
In Week 24 (June 13–19, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined across all age groups, particularly among children under 2 years of age (down 10%, or 467 visits) and among adults (down 7%, or 2,768 visits).
Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups rose for the third consecutive week. Among adults aged 15–74, COVID-19 ranked eighth among the most common conditions. In total, 1,383 cases (vs. 1,026 cases in Week 23) were recorded across all age groups (a 35% increase vs. 40% in Week 23). This increase applies to all age groups, with a 27% rise among children (63 additional cases) and a 41% rise among adults aged 15–74 (i.e., +290 procedures). At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in all regions, with the exception of Normandy and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 348,876 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Among other indicators:
In line with summer weather and high temperatures, there has been a sharp increase in cases of heatstroke (+459%, or +381 cases) and dehydration (+152%, or +64 cases). To a lesser extent, cases involving insect bites (+12%, or +86 cases) and isolated fever (+18%, or +210 cases) are also on the rise.
Although the numbers are small, there has also been an increase in cases of meningitis across all age groups, with 18 cases in S24 compared to 9 in S23.
Among the indicators showing a decline across all age groups are cases of chickenpox (-6%, or -48 cases), influenza (-21%, or -242 cases), asthma (-19%, or -145 cases), and ENT conditions (-10%, or -1,871 cases), which remain the most common condition.
