Summary
In Week 24 (June 11–17), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics rose slightly among children (+3%, or +664 visits) and remained stable among adults.
Among seasonal conditions, visits for chickenpox increased among children (+43%) and adults (+56%). Among children, there was an increase in visits for insect bites (+6%), infectious conjunctivitis (+11%), and viral meningitis at moderate levels (+13 visits versus +4 visits the previous week). Among adults over 75, visits for allergies are on the rise (+38%). There is also a decrease in visits across all age groups for hyperthermia and heatstroke; compared to the same period last year, the numbers are significantly lower in terms of both proportion and total count.
The majority of visits related to nonspecific indicators are stable or declining.
Among the most common conditions, there has been an increase in visits for upper respiratory tract infections (+5%) and viral syndrome (+27%) in children, and for urinary tract infections in adults (+10%). Visits for bronchitis and isolated fever have increased by 21% among children under 2 and by 8% among those aged 2–14. Finally, among those over 75, the increase is mainly due to trauma (+12%) and low back pain (+25%). In this age group, there has also been a 9% increase in visits due to death.
