Summary

  • In week 23 of 2017 (June 5–11, 2017), the overall activity of SOS Médecins clinics remained stable across all age groups. It remained at levels comparable to previous years.

  • Consultations for seasonal spring and summer conditions were generally down across all age groups, with the exception of: - isolated fever, up 13% (+189 consultations) across all ages (and particularly among children aged 2–14 and adults aged 15–74). Consultations among children are slightly higher than in the previous two years. - for insect bites, up 8% (+63 consultations) across all age groups, at levels higher than those of the previous two years during this period, - for burns, up 10% (+10 consultations) at levels comparable to those of the previous two years. Of note are the slight decrease in visits for infectious conjunctivitis, which nevertheless remain higher than in the two previous years among adults, and the sharp decrease in visits for chickenpox among children (-29%).

  • Among the most common conditions, there was an increase in visits for ENT conditions and viral syndromes among children under 2 years of age (+12%) and for trauma among children aged 2–14 years (+10%). Among adults aged 15–74, visits for ENT conditions are also on the rise (+8.5%), as are those for abdominal pain and low back pain/sciatica (+8.5%). Among adults over 75, there has been an increase in certified deaths (+25%), as well as in consultations for pneumonia (+21%) and anxiety (+17.3%).
