Summary
In Week 27 (July 2–8), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased among 2- to 14-year-olds (-6%, or -988 visits), remained stable among children under 2 and 15- to 74-year-olds, and increased among those over 75 (+5%, or +327 visits).
Among seasonal conditions, for both children and adults, there was an increase in visits for insect bites (+45% among children under 2), conjunctivitis (up 15% and 14%, respectively), and hyperthermia and heatstroke (up 9% and 15%, respectively). Among adults, visits for meningitis (+17%, or +3 visits) and chickenpox (+65%, or +13 visits) are on the rise.
Among nonspecific indicators, visits for fever alone are on the rise among adults (+12%, or +52 visits). There was also an increase in visits for asthma among those over 15 years of age (+10%), dehydration (+13%), and malaise (+6%) among those over 75 years of age, though these numbers were moderate (fewer than 30).
The variation in the most common conditions is marked among those over 75 compared to other age groups, with an increase in visits for deterioration in general health (+17%), urinary tract infection (+20%), and heart disease (+12%). Meanwhile, among children under 2, only visits for skin conditions are on the rise (+16%). Visits due to death are down by 12% among those over 75, following an increase observed last week.
The measles outbreak continues; this week, there has been an increase of more than 50% in visits among those under 15 years of age (+3 visits).
