Key Points
In Week 30 (July 24–30, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics continued to decline among children and rose slightly among those aged 75 and older (+3.5%).
Excluding suspected COVID-19 cases, which increased across all age groups (+21%, or +44 cases), seasonal indicators and other monitored conditions across all age groups remained stable or declined.
Among those aged 75 and older, there is a slight upward trend—on the order of +10% but with low case numbers—for several of the most frequently diagnosed conditions by SOS Médecins associations (urinary tract infection, death, fall, trauma, isolated fever). We also observe, again with small sample sizes, an increase in medical procedures for asthma attacks (+137%, or +26 procedures) and fainting spells (+35%, or +16 procedures). In this age group, the increase in medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 is more pronounced (rising from 39 procedures in S29 to 102 in S30, or +162%).
Medical procedures for viral meningitis continue to rise (+25%, or +4 procedures across all ages), remaining at levels slightly higher than in previous years.
