SOS Médecins National Newsletter, July 23, 2018

Summary

In Week 29 (July 16–22), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased among children (down 16%, or 2,916 visits) and increased among adults, particularly those aged 75 and older (up 6%, or 417 visits).

Seasonal conditions and nonspecific symptoms remained stable or decreased across all age groups. The only notable increases were in visits for conjunctivitis among adults aged 15–74 (+8%, or +19 visits) and for general malaise among adults (+12%, or +37 visits). For all these indicators, the share of activity within overall activity is comparable to that observed in the previous two years, with the exception of visits for burns among adults, which was slightly higher.

In line with the overall decline in activity, the most common conditions are all decreasing among children. Among adults, there was an increase in visits for trauma (+11%), digestive disorders (+9%) among those aged 15–74, as well as cardiac disorders (+28%) and falls (+16%) among those aged 75 and older.

In week 29, 4 visits among children for measles were recorded, compared to none in week 28.
