Summary

In Week 28 (July 12–18, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among adults (+8%, or +3,670 visits) and decreased among children (-7%, or -1,511 visits).

The increase in medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups continued for the second consecutive week (+38%, or +407 procedures). The share of activity also rose (2.1% in Week 28 vs. 1.6% in Week 27). Only adults were affected by this increase, with a rise of +44%, or +392 procedures. Among children, the number of procedures has stabilized. At the regional level, SOS Médecins procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in all regions except Normandy. The sharpest increases are observed in the PACA region (+108%, or +67 procedures), Occitanie (+108%, or +67 procedures), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+45%, or 59 cases), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+56%, or 65 cases), and Grand-Est (+56%, or 43 cases). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 227,855 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

After several weeks of decline, seasonal indicators are once again on the rise, albeit at a moderate rate. Notable increases include insect bites (+8%, or +78 cases) and dehydration (+23%, or +14 cases) across all age groups, as well as allergies (+13%, or 116 cases), heat-related issues (+65%, or +11 cases), isolated fever (+19%, or +74 visits), and asthma (+20%, or +79 visits) among adults. Increases were also observed for trauma among those aged 75 and older and chickenpox (+10%, or +33 visits among 2- to 14-year-olds, and +71%, or +10 visits among 15- to 74-year-olds). Among the most common conditions, there were sharp increases in bronchitis (+40%, or +419 visits) and ENT conditions (+20%, or +1,307 visits) among adults.
