Key Points
In Week 28 (July 10–16, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children under 2 years old (+10%, or +535 cases) and adults (+7%, or +3,783 cases) and remained stable among children aged 2–14.
In line with weather conditions, there was an increase across all age groups in cases of heatstroke (+62%, or +104 cases), dehydration (+31%, or +47 cases), and insect bites (+31%, or +359 cases).
There was an increase in respiratory cases at levels comparable to previous years: asthma across all age groups (+14%, or +112 cases), bronchitis in children (+20%, or +112 cases), ENT infections in children under 2 years of age (+10%, or +238 cases) and in adults (+19%, or +842 cases), suspected COVID-19 in adults, which remains at low levels (+38%, or +148 cases), and pneumonia in those aged 75 and older (+37%, or +69 cases).
Among children, there was an increase in procedures for chickenpox (+19%, or +121 procedures), viral syndrome (+32%, or 49 procedures) in children under 2 years of age, and dental/ENT (+17%, or +65 procedures) in children aged 2–14.
Among adults, there was an increase in procedures for urinary tract infections (+15%, or +297 procedures), trauma (+8%, or +222 procedures), and abdominal pain (+8%, or +108 procedures). There was an increase in procedures for viral meningitis among those aged 15–74, though the numbers were small, they were higher than in previous years (+54%, or 7 procedures). Among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in cases involving deterioration of general health (+19%, or +52 cases), vomiting (+24%, or +14 cases), and isolated fever (+14%, or +11 cases).
Regarding mental health indicators, there was a slight increase in cases for depressive states (+20%, or 7 more cases) and anxiety (+13%, or 25 more cases) among those aged 65 and older.
