SOS Médecins National Newsletter, July 13, 2010

Over the past week, the total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has decreased slightly compared to the previous week. This decline in activity has been observed across all geographic areas and primarily involves children.

Calls related to direct effects of heat and diagnoses of heatstroke have increased over the past two weeks (+32% between Week 26 and Week 27). These increases affect all age groups and all geographic areas. Diagnoses of dehydration also remain high among those over 75.

The number of calls regarding "feeling unwell" has remained stable, including among those over 75.

Fever diagnoses have decreased in recent days among children aged 2 to 14. This decrease is likely due to the decline in SOS activity among children.

The "allergies" indicator is comparable to last week’s.

"Insect bites" are at the same level as last week, though they remain higher than usual.

The number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations is similar to that of the previous week.
