Summary

In Week 27 (July 5–11, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics saw a slight increase among children under 2 years old (+5%, or 264 visits), a decrease among children aged 2–14 (-5%, or 801 visits), and remained stable among adults.

After four weeks of significant decline and two weeks of stability, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups rose sharply (+61%, or +397 procedures) in the first week. The share of activity also increased (1.56% in Week 27 vs. 0.97% in Week 26). Among 5- to 14-year-olds, the increase was more moderate (+17%, or +14 cases) than in other age groups (+120%, or +29 cases, among those aged 65 and older; +64%, or +328 cases, among 15- to 64-year-olds; and +82%, or +23 cases, among 0- to 4-year-olds). At the regional level, SOS Médecins calls for suspected COVID-19 cases are on the rise in all regions. The sharpest increases are observed in the PACA region (+140%, or 73 calls), Occitanie (+114%, or 33 calls), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+100%, or 58 calls), Grand-Est (+79%, or 34 calls), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+57%, or 47 cases), Normandy (+49%, or 34 cases), and Île-de-France (+30%, or 41 cases). Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 226,276 medical consultations for suspected COVID-19 have been conducted.

Most seasonal indicators are declining across all age groups, with the exception of chickenpox among children under 15 (+22%, or +81 cases). Among the most common conditions, there is a continued increase in cases of bronchiolitis (+27%, or +42 cases) and bronchitis (+18%, or +35 cases) among children under 2 years of age. Among adults, there is an increase in upper respiratory tract infections (+13%, or +759 cases) for those aged 15–74, and in digestive disorders (+21%, or +33 cases) and urinary tract infections (+14%, or +32 cases) for those aged 75 and older.
